SPRINGFIELD — A couple of hundred people honored Black history at Springfield Prep Charter School’s second annual Black History Month Celebration.

The Feb. 27 event, a partnership between the school and the community, explored Black culture through traditions of dance, song, food, fashion and entrepreneurship.

Area restaurants shared food traditions that are a part of Black culture, while small business owners and local artisans set up tables to sell their products. Meanwhile, students from the school sang on stage and performed a dance routine. The school’s Drip Club used repurposed cloth to create a fashion show highlighting looks throughout Black history.
