LONGMEADOW — The Springfield Ballers, a youth athletics organization serving the Greater Springfield area, received a $2,500 donation on June 24 from the Katarina “Kat” Boskovic Memorial Fund.
The fund was organized in memory of Katarina “Kat” Boskovic, a Longmeadow High School senior and student athlete who died in a car crash in 2022. Her parents, Svejetlan and Ognjenka Boskovic, were joined by Bob Warchol, a director of the foundation in Boskovic’s name. Springfield Ballers Executive Director James Gee, Treasurer Michelle Torchia, board member Timothy Allen and two students, Maela Allen and Emersynn Cage, were on hand to receive the donation at the Longmeadow High School gymnasium.
While the Springfield Ballers began as a girls’ basketball organization in 2009, it has grown to include boys’ teams and offer the sports of lacrosse, golf and softball. Allen said the Ballers are working on including track, Boskovic’s sport of choice.
