CHICOPEE — The city of Chicopee hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 31 to officially welcome Wingstop so its community.

Wingstop will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight and is located at 601 Memorial Dr. Unit 16.

Wingstop hosted a soft opening on Jan. 27 and Wingstop District Manger Andrew Monico said the first week of business has produced a lot of customers and business.

He said, “We’re really excited. It’s been along time coming. I know they city has been looking forward to it. We were suppose to open a couple months ago and we are a little delayed right so we’re happy that we’re here now. We opened on Monday. It’s been a crazy first few days, busier than we could have ever anticipated and we’re thrilled to have the city out. Everyone’s certainly really excited.”

Anyone who is not familiar with Wingstop, Monico described Wingstop as “a category of one.”

He explained, “What we do is different than what anyone else does. Our chickens always made to order so you do have to wait a little while sometimes but it’s worth it because it’s hot, it’s fresh, it’s not sitting around to get passed off to you. Always fresh, never frozen.”

Wingstop offers boneless and bone-in wings, tenders, sandwiches, fries and combos. They also offer dozens of wing flavors as well.
Wingstop also makes it own ranch and blue cheese dressing in house.

State Sen. Adam Gomez (D-Springfield), state Rep. Shirley Arriaga (D-Chicopee), Ward 9 City Councilor Mary Beth Pniak-Costello, Mayor John Vieau and other stakeholders from Chicopee and representatives from state legislators’ offices were all at the ribbon cutting to welcome Wingstop to Chicopee.

Gomez stated that he was excited to not have to drive Worcester anymore to enjoy it.

“A business like this that comes into the city of Chicopee is always a great thing because it creates jobs, it’s an economic footprint. I know a lot of people that love this restaurant. It’s important that we come celebrate this day because we know that they’re going to be making the magic for Chicopee,” Gomez said.

Arriaga was also excited to welcome Wingstop to Chicopee and said, “If nothing else I get a bunch of calls because of housing and because when will Wingstop open. We’re very excited to share this with the world, we’re officially open. We welcome you, we want you to stay here, we want to attract others.”
