CHICOPEE — Rumbleseat Bar and Grille staff, Mayor John Vieau, elected officials and community members gathered on Dec. 3 for the grand opening of its newly added golf room at 482 Springfield St.

“The official grand opening of the golf room is really big for us,” said Rumbleseat Bar and Grille owner Billy Stetson, “This has been a project for almost three years in the making, with the permitting and the buildout.”

The new golf room was a former pizza place for many years. Stetson explained that after partnering at the Chicopee Country Club golf course for several years to help run the concession, he realized that the guests who patronized the 19th hole after they finished golfing are exactly the type of people that fit in at Rumbleseat sports bar.

“They’re not always here so I thought, ‘How can I draw them here?’” Stetson said, “How can I draw them here from all over Western Massachusetts, and these golf simulators, the technology is so good on them.”

Stetson also said the golf room fits in with the theme of the bar and grille. At Rumbleseat, there are 35 televisions for most sports games, and food and beer specials every day.

The hours for the golf room are 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. If anyone wants to utilize the space, they have to book a time online.

Stetson said people can go to therumbleseat.com to book their tee time. He added that if you struggle with booking online, one of the servers can help you with the QR code if you try to book in person.

There are QR codes displayed at Rumbleseat that will bring you to the website to book your tee time.

He added that are two golf simulator bays. Guests can book a time slot from as little as 30 minutes to up to four hours.

The space is also available to book corporate and private parties.

It costs $50 per hour, but if you book before 4 p.m., there is an early bird special for a discounted price.

“Come on down, take a swing, good or bad, you only have to walk five feet to pick up your ball,” Stetson stated.

He also said that Max’s Swing Lounge in Springfield has the same advanced technology for their simulators, but they charge more per hour to utilize them.

“It’s really high technology. These track man machines are the best simulator machines in the business right now. Top-of-the-line technology right here in Chicopee. We can get as low as $30 an hour if you book before 4 [p.m.] any day,” Stetson said.

Mayor John Vieau, who also took a few swings to work on his game, talked about the importance of the indoor golf simulator during the winter months.

He said, “Chicopee Country Club is closed for the season, so there is one place in Chicopee that you can work on your game, and it’s the Golf Room at the Rumbleseat with state-of-the-art simulators. I want to thank the owner of the Rumbleseat, Bill Stetson, because what he did, he’s expanding and continuing to invest in Chicopee, and he is taking a space that was probably underutilized at the time and turned it into a golf simulator room, and again, thinking outside the box and creatively to give people some of these extracurricular things to do that go along with pizza, wings, football and also golf now.”

State Rep. Shirley Arriaga was also at the grand opening to thank Stetson for his continued investment in Chicopee. She also presented him with a citation of congratulations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
