ENFIELD — The 2024 Enfield Fourth of July Town Celebration will take place July 5-7 on the Enfield Town Green, 820 Enfield St.

On Friday, July 5 the events go from 5-10 p.m.; Saturday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Enfield Fourth of July Committee is a nonprofit committee of 26 volunteer directors with a sole mission to plan a three-day family event in Enfield that’s free of charge.

Marketing Director Izzy Post Ruhland for the Enfield Fourth of July Town Celebration said, “We strive every year to fundraise, work through sponsorships and plan this three-day event for all to attend regardless of their ability to pay.”

There will be multiple concerts throughout the weekend, a children’s activity area, Teen Zone, beer garden, car show, K-9 demonstrations from the Enfield Police Department, basketball tournament and, for the first time, a live wrestling competition with professional wrestlers in the ring.

Additionally, the celebration will have its Crafts Fair, Independence Day parade, road race and Fireworks Spectacular by Zambelli Fireworks International.

“Our goal as a team is to create an event that brings the community together and makes people happy,” Ruhland shared. “That’s really what we want to do. It’s our mission to make sure everyone can come out and enjoy this. We work hard to create that community event and it has grown into the 39 years we’ve been an established committee.”

Though it’s the 39th year for the committee, the celebration itself has been around longer. It began as a picnic in Brainard Park with five families and has grown ever since.

In the early ‘80s, it moved to the Enfield Town Green. It became so large a committee was established to formally plan it.

Ruhland has been around this event her entire life. Her grandfather was a member of the committee in the ‘90s. Then her parents were involved since the year she was born.

This is Ruhland’s ninth year as the director and this is her way of carrying it on. “We’ve seen tens of thousands of people come through every weekend and it culminates all with that Fireworks Spectacular on Sunday night,” Ruhland said. “There’s nothing like it for us as a team, and we just love to see the community come together and have something to look forward to every July.”

For folks wanting to attend for the first time, parking around the Town Green can be tricky with the side streets so the committee has a free shuttle bus from the Enfield Square Mall that will run every 15 minutes.
