SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield family can rest a little easier after more than 30 years of heartbreak and sleepless nights now that the person who killed Celestina Perez in 1995 has been identified by the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.

Prefere Melamines, a company that makes melamine-formaldehyde resin used in products that range from laminate flooring to vehicle clear coats, welcomed Mayor Domenic Sarno and representatives from state Sen. Adam Gomez’s office to celebrate the milestone.

SPRINGFIELD — Four Springfield police officers were officially promoted at a pinning ceremony on July 17. Eleni Barbieri and Derek Cook ascended to the rank of captain, while Jacob Strange and Jason Sleeper made lieutenant.
