PALMER — The Palmer Town Council met to discuss several key issues impacting the community on July 8. One of the primary topics was Resolution 2025-01, which proposed using American Rescue Plan Act funds to purchase a 2025 Western Star 10-wheeled dump/plow truck for the DPW for $349,289.
LUDLOW — Merrian-Webster defines a heroine as “a woman admired and emulated for her achievements and qualities.” Each year, the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women and state legislators seek out women who exemplify heroism through their contributions to their communities. For the 2024 class of 125 honorees, state Sen. Jake Oliveira selected Ludlow’s Laura Rooney.
LUDLOW — The big internet providers in Ludlow, like Verizon and Spectrum, may have competition on their hands. GoNetspeed, a relatively small internet service provider, recently finished building out a fiber optic network in town and is open for business.
WARE — Last week, the Behavioral Health Network launched one of the handful of mobile methadone clinics in the commonwealth and the only such facility in Western Massachusetts.
LUDLOW — Residents wanting to use Veteran’s Memorial Park engaged in a contentious conversation with the Board of Selectmen at its July 9 meeting. The group had staged the Color Ludlow with Love event at the park in 2023 and sought to do so again on Sept. 14.
SOMERS — KK’s This n’ That Shop in Somers is, in many ways, an idea born out of convenience. Owners Karen Campbell and her husband, Delbert, purchase real estate for investment purposes and five years ago bought the building on 138 Main St., which now serves as the home to KK’s This n’ That Shop.
