SOUTHWICK — Erin Fahey-Carrier, the regional school district’s current director of curriculum and former Powder Mill School principal, has been chosen by the School Committee to become the new superintendent.
WESTFIELD — Because many of the commonwealth’s municipalities incurred some of the largest cost ever to remove ice and snow from their roads, Westfield and Southwick were included in an $80 million allocation included in the state’s fiscal year 2027 budget to offset the cost.
SOUTHWICK — It may sound counterintuitive, but the amount of snow the area got this winter has contributed to the dramatic increase in the number of ticks being reported by area health departments, including in Southwick.
SOUTHWICK — The Conservation Commission approved a plan it had been developing for over six months to restore the areas of the North Pond Conservation Area that have been severely eroded by foot traffic.
SOUTHWICK — The Select Board was talking trash during its meeting on June 1 before it raised the annual regular transfer sticker price from $180 to $195 and the senior sticker from $95 to $110.
SPRINGFIELD — Fulfilling one of the recommendations in the Master Plan and with the support of the Select Board, the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority, in partnership with the Franklin Regional Transit Authority, launched a new public transit route that includes Southwick.
