SOUTHWICK — It took a “little bit of a ways to get there,” said Select Board Chair Douglas Moglin when making the “cool announcement” that residents can now sign up to become subscribers to the town’s fiber-optic network. He also said residents can indicate interest in receiving the service in the future.
WESTFIELD — The city of Westfield’s Engineering Department has announced that work will start on a roadway improvement project along a portion of Franklin Street, from Shepard Street through the Elm Street intersection, to enhance pedestrian safety.
SOUTHWICK — If the town never gets a $500,000 earmark to cover the cost of dredging an area of Middle Pond on Congamond Lakes, it won’t be for lack of trying.
With the state’s recent classification of kratom and its derivatives as Schedule I substances, the Boards of Health in Westfield and Southwick are having the potentially dangerous herbal extract removed from shelves of mostly convenience stores or gas stations in both communities.
SOUTHWICK – The Water Commission will likely approve an increase in water rates at its next meeting after a presentation by DPW Director Rich Bosak at its meeting on Aug. 20.
