WILBRAHAM — Wilbraham business The Sugar Chalet recently celebrated the grand opening of its new location on Crane Park Drive.

The Sugar Chalet offers a welcoming place to talk and gather while enjoying house-made sweet and savory treats, Chef and Owner Allison Henry told Reminder Publishing.

The current menu offers savory items such as breakfast sandwiches, salads and pizza during certain hours of the day in addition its all-day bakery and drink menu. In the bakery, items include fresh cookies, muffins, scones and bagels. Drinks such as hot or iced tea, coffee, lemonade and frozen custard floats are also available, according to The Sugar Chalet website.

The Sugar Chalet also offers seasonal specials, such as cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes and breads, Henry noted, stating that she liked to “switch up the menu often.” Bakery items are available for pickup or delivery with a five-day notice.

Cakes and cupcakes can be customized by cake flavor, frosting and filling flavor with options such as lavender frosting, coffee ganache, pineapple filling and lemon cake, The Sugar Chalet website states. Customers can also email information about desired themes and colors to include in the cake design. Cake sizes vary from a mini at serving 1-2 people to half-sheet cakes serving 25-35 people and wedding cakes. Cookie flavors include chocolate chip, peanut butter, salted brownie and sugar.

“I always knew I wanted to open a business,” Henry said, explaining that she began baking cakes and other treats for her family when she was young and grew to operate her bakery business from her home. After attending the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, orders increased until Henry left her current job to open The Sugar Chalet, she said.

A Palmer resident, Henry highlighted her appreciation to the Wilbraham community for welcoming her business. The bakery celebrated its grand opening at the new location on July 20.

The Sugar Chalet first officially opened in Wilbraham in October 2022 while Henry was renting kitchen space from local business Sugar D.L.’s Baked Goods before it moved to its current location at 1 Crane Park Dr., Henry explained.

The bakery’s regular hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday to Monday with after hours on Friday and Saturday from 6-10 p.m., Henry said. During After Hours, specialty items including milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches are available, as well as cookies and other desserts. Breakfast hours are 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and lunch hours are 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day.
