On Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., Longmeadow voters will decide whether to build a new consolidated middle school. This is the only item on the warrant that night. I urge residents to vote YES.
A new middle school is the SMART choice:
SMART Educationally — Our children are learning in outdated buildings, that lack modern security, and dedicated STEAM space. A unified school would expand opportunities, eliminate redundancies, and provide the safe, flexible environment our students deserve.
SMART Fiscally — The state funds new construction far more generously than repairs. Renovating two outdated schools would cost more and leave students behind. One modern building saves money on transportation, maintenance, and utilities while protecting our bond rating.
SMART Civically — Longmeadow’s strong schools drive our property values and community pride. Investing in a new middle school shows that we value education and our town’s future.
This vote is about more than buildings — it’s about giving every child in Longmeadow the chance to thrive. Please join me in voting YES for a new middle school on Sept. 9 at Town Meeting.
