LEVERETT — During the coronavirus pandemic the Ashram of Light, a small spiritual center in Amherst, pulled up stakes and moved into a house near the New England Peace Pagoda in Leverett. With all the disruption around COVID-19, the leader of the group, GurujiMa, didn’t get the chance to formally introduce herself to the community.
WHATELY — Library Director Cyndi Steiner wants to save taxpayer money by winning grants that will help pay for services and programming at the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library. To do that she needs to hear from patrons about what they want for the next five years.
WHATELY — The Selectboard announced the hiring of S. Peter Kane, currently the assistant town administrator in Swampscott, to be Whately’s new town administrator.
AMHERST — Town Manager Paul Bockelman officially presented his proposed $97 million fiscal year 2025 budget to the Amherst Town Council during the May 6 meeting.
HADLEY — Hadley’s Town Meeting on May 2 was attended by 184 residents. Those in attendance saw a singular exchange between resident Thomas Fyden and Planning Board Chair Jim Maksimoski.
WESTHAMPTON — The Federal Communications Commission wants everyone connected to the internet, so on May 18 the Westhampton Public Library will host a discussion on whether everyone in town has equal access.
