PITTSFIELD — As a city with fewer than 44,000 residents, located in the reliably blue state of Massachusetts, Pittsfield does not normally draw presidential candidates. On July 27, however, the city was abuzz with anticipation over the presence of Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
AGAWAM — Domenick Pisano has a deep connection to Agawam High School’s football program. It runs through four generations of his family who have played AHS football — from his grandfather to his father, to himself and now to his son.
WEST SPRINGFIELD — Over the years, Greater Springfield has been home to Falcons and Thunderbirds. Kings have also reigned supreme. Those hockey teams are part of the region’s history of sending hundreds of local stars to the National Hockey League.
WESTFIELD — In late June, the Westfield River Watershed Association put out an appeal for more board members, saying it was in danger of folding after 72 years due to lack of a quorum for meetings.
RUSSELL — During the Russell Board of Selectmen’s meeting on July 24, Thomas Kulig and Wayne Precanico reviewed highway and police updates, proposed usages of the former Russell Elementary School and approved an expenditure of American Recovery Plan Act funds. Member Gloria Farrell was not present at the meeting.
CHICOPEE — Maria Fareti from Chicopee was awarded the Vincent Falardeau award, which is a scholarship award for the best track athlete in Western Massachusetts.
