WESTFIELD — It was a homecoming more than eight months in the making. Hudson, a large snapping turtle, was returned to its pond on Westfield’s North Side after being hit by a vehicle in October and severely injured.
SOUTHWICK — Motocross privateers show up every summer to race the Crestview Construction Southwick National at The Wick 338 with the hope of catching lighting in a bottle and qualifying for the finals against the best professional riders in the world. But it’s still about having fun.
The Western Mass. Hilltown Hikers’ next group hike will be at Granville Gorge in Southwick and Granville on July 20 at 10 a.m. The hike rating is moderate, an approximately 3.5 mile loop with 600 feet of elevation gain, a brook crossing, and one steep climb to the vista.
WEST SPRINGFIELD — After four and a half years as police chief and 28 years on the force, Paul Connor has retired. In his place, Mayor William Reichelt last month appointed former detective Capt. Jay Gearing.
