WILBRAHAM — During its Sept. 25 meeting, the Wilbraham Planning Board discussed considerations for the town’s modified bylaw for accessory dwelling units following the recent state approval of the Affordable Homes Act.

EAST LONGMEADOW — The East Longmeadow Fire Department will host its annual open house on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 12-3 p.m. at the fire station, beginning its support of nonprofit National Fire Protection Association’s annual Fire Prevention Week.

HAMPDEN — The Hampden Planning Board agreed 3-2 to take no action on The Farm at GreatHorse’s request for a rezone of four parcels from residential R-6 and R-4 districts to golf recreational at its Sept. 25 meeting.
SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield City Council received good news on Sept. 16 in the form of a $6 million grant from the federal Forest Service. The Speak for the Trees Grant program will help pay for the safety, maintenance and management of the urban forest, and the planting of over 6,000 trees.
