SPRINGFIELD — The music, the pageantry, the celebration. The 2024 Springfield Puerto Rican Parade had it all on Sept. 15. Thousands of people lined a two-mile stretch of Main Street to watch the parade, which had so many people participating that it took an hour and a half to pass by.
A question regarding whether the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System test should continue to be a high school graduation requirement will appear on Massachusetts ballots during the Nov. 5 general election.
WILBRAHAM — The Wilbraham-Hampden Academic Trust will be hosting its innaugural Family Fall Fest on Sunday, Sept. 29, beginning at 12 p.m. at Fern Valley Farms to support the organization’s work to provide grants to teachers in Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District.
HAMPDEN — The Hampden Senior Center Building Committee will host a public forum on Oct. 9 to present the updated plan before the fall Town Meeting.
LONGMEADOW — The fourth annual Longmeadow Pride festival took place on the Town Green on Sept. 15. The crowds came out to the event, organized by the Longmeadow Pride Alliance, heard music, sampled food truck fare, played games and learned about community resources and municipal projects.
EAST LONGMEADOW — Pioneer Valley Planning Commission Senior Land Use and Environment Planner Mimi Kaplan presented the town’s draft 2024 hazard mitigation plan at the Town Council’s Sept. 10 meeting, fulfilling the required second public hearing of the draft plan.
