SPRINGFIELD — The City Council approved an ordinance that gives most newly hired municipal employees two years to relocate to Springfield instead of the one year that was previously set in place.
Food, housing (both cost and inventory) and heating costs are among basic living expenses putting a squeeze on middle class families. Meanwhile, school districts and departments are threatening significant reductions and funding for roads has remained stagnant while inflation has not.
LONGMEADOW — The “L Project,” a Massachusetts Department of Transportation road redesign project estimated to take up to seven years, has moved into a new phase. Despite its goal of making portions of Longmeadow Street and several of the roadways around it safer and more efficient for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, not everyone is happy about the project.
NORTHAMPTON — In an effort to showcase the benefits and services available for veterans and their families, Central Hampshire Veterans Services will be hosting a Veteran’s Benefits Event on Wednesday Feb. 26 from 4-6 p.m. at the Northampton Senior Center.
