HUNTINGTON — Approximately 250 people set up on the town green July 10 to enjoy a performance by Ray Guillemette Jr. performing as King & Kountry, for the kickoff of the 2025 Huntington Summer Music Series.
Guillemette seamlessly transitioned from Elvis hits to country favorites, both old and new, singing the best of Elvis from his 34-year career performing as the King of Rock and Roll, and country hits to appeal to both the older folks and younger fans in the audience. He said he blamed his dad for his love of country, and his mom for his love of Elvis, whose music has allowed him to travel the world.
The July 10 concert was the opening night of the Summer Music Series, and the music and food that began at 5:30 p.m. for the kickoff only, included for a donation of $1, a hamburger or hot dog, popcorn, lemonade, cake, that was much appreciated by all who attended.
Future Thursday night concerts will run from 6:30-8 p.m. The lineup includes Acoustic alternative performer Otan Vargas on July 17; The Brian & Vicky Show performing country and rock covers on July 24; The Hellcats’ rock and original music on July 31.
In August, the Hotshot Hillbillies will bring classic rock to country roll on Aug. 7; Even it Up, music from the ‘70s, ‘80s and beyond on Aug. 14, and The Honig Brothers’ classic rock and originals on Aug. 21.
All performances are free. Located at the intersection of Routes 20 and 112 on the Huntington town green. Bring your own lawn chair — no pets please. All performances will be moved inside Stanton Hall in case of inclement weather in the same location. Handicapped accessible.
