The Agawam-West Springfield CROP Hunger Walk held in April was a great success! Fifty-three walkers participated, and together with their churches, families and area businesses, a total of $8,616 was raised to fight hunger in the local community and around the globe. Church World Service operates in nearly 30 countries responding to disasters, strengthening communities, and helping refugees. One quarter of the funds raised will go to the Parish Cupboard, which serves both Agawam and West Springfield with emergency groceries and daily hot lunches.
The CROP Hunger Walk Planning Team wishes to thank Agawam Congregational Church, Feeding Hills Congregational Church, First Congregational Church West Springfield, Grace Lutheran Church, Erin Luchenbill and family, the Parish Cupboard, St. David’s Episcopal Church, and West Springfield United Methodist Church for their fundraising and participation. Additional generous support came from CDA Roofing, Linda and John Heinze, Sherry Enterprises, the Majestic Theater, and Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe. A special thanks goes to the members of Feeding Hills Congregational Church for hosting this year’s walk!
