RUSSELL — The Hilltown Community Ambulance Association Inc.’s second annual pig roast will be held rain or shine on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 1-4 p.m. at Strathmore Park, 773 Westfield Road in Russell.
The event will feature “awesome food, music, raffle, and fun for the whole family. Every registration to this event helps bring HCAA closer to our mission to provide Hilltown residents with the best possible emergency medical care,” according to event organizers.
The menu features roasted pork or chicken, coleslaw, baked mac and cheese, cornbread and a cookie bar for dessert. Advance tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children under 10. Day-of tickets are $2 more.
Attendees can purchase tickets through any board member, at the HCAA base at 1 Bromley Road in Huntington during daytime hours, or by emailing Jade@hilltownambulance.org or Bailey@hilltownambulance.org. The money raised will go into the equipment fund for the purchase of new medical equipment.
The Hilltown Community Ambulance Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is a 24/7 paramedic-level emergency medical service serving the towns of Blandford, Chester, Huntington, Montgomery, Russell and Worthington.
CFO Jade Rice said HCAA has raised the $53,000 needed to purchase an outfitted trailer, which is expected to be delivered by the end of September. The trailer from Emery Temp Housing in South Grafton is furnished, with a kitchen, washer and dryer and decontamination room for personnel. The trailer will sit perpendicular to the HCAA base at 1 Bromley Road.
The 2026-27 subscription drive is ongoing, Rice said. A subscription is good for a year, and if the ambulance service is used, out-of-pocket costs after insurance are waived.
HCAA also offers services for events in the communities, such as parades, fairs, sporting events, concerts and races. The HCAA Academy offers CPR instruction for all levels of providers and laypeople through the American Heart Association. More information on HCAA services is found at hilltownambulance.org.
