SOUTHWICK — At the most recent Lake Management Committee meeting, the president of Citizen Restoring Congamond said the group’s members wanted to “hold off” on funding a boathouse for the Police Department’s patrol boat.
SOUTHWICK — Conservation Commission Chair Norm Cheever announced at its meeting on May 18 that four alternatives have been developed to mitigate flooding events at Congamond Lakes, and he said the costs range from $3 million to $222 million.
SOUTHWICK — For 117 days, a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that was driven on the ice of the Middle Pond in late January, crashed through and submerged in over 25 feet of water, was recovered on May 18 by members of the Western Massachusetts Regional Dive Team.
SOUTHWICK — Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi announced on March 25 the commonwealth was withholding $26 million in funding, which is forcing him to make significant cuts to the department’s budget, including eliminating water safety patrols on Congamond Lakes.
SOUTHWICK — The Planning Board closed a public hearing on a request by the owner of Gem Marina at 141 Congamond Road asking it to modify its special permit to allow it to convert four of its transient-use boat slips, which now total 16, to increase the number of long-term slip rentals to 28.
