EASTHAMPTON — Like so many other towns in Western Massachusetts, the city of Easthampton is now facing a $3.8 million deficit for its fiscal year 2027 budget, and its government will likely ask the town to vote for a Proposition 2½ override.
WILBRAHAM — The Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District School Committee is notifying its staff about the possibility of more layoffs in the fiscal year 2027 reductions, cited as allowing staff to prepare for the “worst case scenario” by School Committee member Tim Collins.
WEST SPRINGFIELD — On March 31, the West Springfield School Committee voted to support the proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 after a final hearing spread across three meetings.
SOUTH HADLEY — Following some lamenting, the South Hadley School Committee approved a $27.5 million budget at its March 25 meeting.
EAST LONGMEADOW — East Longmeadow Town Manager Tom Christensen said the town is seeing a full budget increase of 2.3% for fiscal year 2027, citing it as “good planning and budgeting,” rather than unfortunate.
