This is in regards to “HWRSD pleads case for more ed funds.” I would like to remind everyone that this is the very same school department that IMMEDIATELY after giving us not one, not two, but three override votes they wouldn’t even initially close Thornton Burgess to save money. It was this middle finger to the taxpayer that made me determined to fight any tax increase, no matter what the circumstance.
I also want to remind everyone that after two of these overrides failed, they still managed to finance the new roof at Wilbraham Middle School and address the issues at Soule Road. In my opinion they didn’t even try to find alternate funding sources before sticking it to the taxpayer.
And now at a time when enrollment continues to decline they want still more money. Again.
We need to send a strong message that we will no longer tolerate this blatant disregard toward their responsibility to the tax payer, and we will no longer tolerate this blatant disregard toward the meaning of the word “budget”.
