WESTFIELD — After a dangerous hearing on Dec. 23 in District Court for two men charged by police for animal cruelty and the malicious killing of a pet rabbit during a Thanksgiving party were found dangerous but released with a host of conditions.

Councilors vote unanimously for resolution opposing battery storage site

WESTFIELD — Before City Councilors voted unanimously in support of a resolution sponsored by councilors Dan Allie, Kristen Mello and Nicholas Morganelli opposing a lithium battery energy storage facility (BESS) on Medeiros Way in the city’s Water Resource Protection District, several officials from Jupiter Power and the Department of Public Utilities and others spoke during public participation at the meeting on Dec. 19.

WESTFIELD — During public participation at the City Council meeting Dec. 9, Councilor Dan Allie spoke about the Department of Public Utilities hearing at Westfield State University on Dec. 5 to consider exempting Jupiter Power, LLC. from the city’s zoning regulations for a lithium battery energy storage system on Medeiros Way. He also announced his intention to make a motion to have the council consider a resolution opposing the project.
