Sunday’s showcase will also include a reception with music and refreshments from noon to 2 p.m. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m,
Scantic River Artisans has over 65 members from Wilbraham, Hampden and surrounding communities.
The group is dedicated to providing opportunities for local artists of all ages and skill levels to explore, develop and market their creations and its mission is to connect the community through diverse, dynamic and creative experiences.
Scantic River Artisans member and media contact Roger Kellman said “Fall Into Art” is a regular feature of the group’s fall schedule and directly benefits its scholarship fund and programming.
“This scholarship fund was started by the Scantic River Artisans three years ago,” Kellman said. “Awards are given annually through the Minnechaug Regional High School art teacher, who determines the recipients. Awards have ranged from $300 to $500”
Kellman said there will be artwork from Minnechaug art students on display as well, so “you are guaranteed to see many different styles celebrating the diversity of our community.”
Attendees can also enjoy “Reflective Musings — A Community Art Project,” funded in part by a grant from the Hampden Cultural Council.
Kellman said the project features artwork donated by not only artists, but anybody in the community who wishes to participate.
He said each piece of art is a reflection of the artist’s thoughts, memories and emotions. Works may include paintings, collages, drawings or photos.
The group is also announcing the “Calming the Chaos: Exploring Organic Abstraction” workshop at the senior center on Nov. 5 from 6-7:30 p.m.
The $20 workshop is led by professional artist Erin Leigh Boughamer, who specializes in abstract painting. Participants will create artwork that explores organic abstraction through playful painting exercises.
