EASTHAMPTON — CitySpace’s popup market on June 1 will celebrate queer makers from the local area, featuring artists and creative vendors with gifts and unique items.

“At CitySpace, creating connections between artists and their communities is one of our driving missions,” explained Zoe Feldman, CitySpace venue and program manager. “We are excited to host an event where our community is given the opportunity to meet so many talented queer makers and the LGBTQ artists have the opportunity to share their work and make a profit.”

The long list of vendors will have a wide range of items to sell from cards, prints and paintings to pottery, zines, clothing and books. The vendor list includes Captain Debbie, Desmond Shea, Dragonlight Designs, Michael Sjostedt, Mossy Bee and Night Critter Prints. For a full list, please visit www.cityspaceeasthampton.org.

“While we were thinking about ways to utilize the increased foot traffic in the building from Art Walk Easthampton and it being Pride Month, it seemed obvious,” said Feldman. “Our goal is consistently one of using our resources of space to assist artists who may face hardships connected to a lack of access to resources such as the ones we can offer.”

The markets began at CitySpace began in 2023, with usually about one per season since. Each market hosts 15 to 20 vendors per market and generally has a theme to it, such as this one which coincides with Pride Month.

“It’s a lot of fun and coincides with the Art Walk Easthampton,” said Burns Maxey, president of the CitySpace board. “Folks can stop by CitySpace and check out the exhibits at Elusie and ECA Galleries, take a tour of the historic building’s second floor, catch up with friends, and meet new people. Visitors can also sign up for a $50 giveaway to Calico, a restaurant just down the street.”

Made possible by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, Greenfield Savings Bank and Peak Performance Roofing, the free market will be open from 2-7 p.m. on June 1 in the Blue Room at Old Town Hall, 43 Main St.
