SOUTHWICK — After nearly three hours, the four articles on the warrant for Town Meeting asking for a decision on several Community Preservation Committee allocations came up and each passed, including the request by the Parks and Recreation Commission to build six pickleball courts at Whalley Park, but there were questions about the courts’ cost.
WESTFIELD — For 56 years, Westfield Middle School has observed Memorial Day with an assembly inviting area veterans to be recognized for their service, and this year’s assembly on May 20 was part of the grand tradition. Local veterans, many from American Legion Post 124 in Westfield and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 872 in Southwick gathered in the library, where they were teamed up with students to be escorted into the auditorium.

HAMPDEN — Engineering consultant Tighe & Bond met with the Hampden Selectboard to deliver an update on the town’s stormwater management plan. Tighe & Bond has been working with Hampden to ensure the town meets its obligations under the municipal separate storm sewer system, which is administered jointly by the federal Environmental Protection Agency and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
