HUNTINGTON — A third public hearing on Aug. 13 in Stanton Hall for a special permit for a proposed 4.9-acre gravel pit at 61 Goss Hill Rd., and properties off Goss Hill Road and Worthington Road, on land owned by William B. Hull Forestlands, ended with a continuance and a tentative scheduled date for another hearing on Nov. 12.
CHICOPEE — Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services Carol Kruser provided a few updates before the school year begins during the School Committee meeting on Aug. 14.
NORTHAMPTON — In a unanimous vote, the Northampton City Council approved the appropriation of $354,250 from the General Stabilization Fund for the replacement of boilers at Leeds Elementary School during its Aug. 15 meeting.
SOUTHWICK — The installation of the Whalley Park splash pad is expected to begin in six to eight weeks, after the town planner recently agreed to oversee the project.
WESTFIELD — The Westfield Athenaeum is once again asking Westfield residents to “take a trip down memory lane” to help the library identify photographs of the city and surrounding areas in its collection.
SPRINGFIELD — When Wall Street hedge fund executive Angelene Huang was asked if she could help turn around the failing Springfield Commonwealth Academy, she agreed to take a look at the property on Ames Hill Drive. The college preparatory school educates children in grades 6-12.
