WESTFIELD — As the son of a veteran, Bruce Marshall supports missions of local veteran organizations, especially those that help veterans in need. That’s why he wrapped up the 2024 season of his “Cruisin’ with Bruce Marshall” car show at Hampton Ponds Plaza by presenting three local veterans groups with a donation.
Sept. 16 — the first Monday of the Big E’s 2024 season — was warm and sunny. It was perfect fair weather for the 67,034 people who attended. That number was four times higher than the Salute to West Springfield in 2023, when only 16,549 people attended because of rainy weather, setting a record low attendance.
“I had not done a show for maybe 10 years. I used to love it, but assumed I was done with that,” she told Reminder Publishing. “But someone who was supposed to display their work canceled, and the head librarian said to me, ‘Jane, we need your paintings.’ So, I did it.”
Ten American teenagers traveled to the Dominican Republic this past July to not only play baseball with 10 teenagers from this island country, but also to work together as teammates on a community service project.
