SPRINGFIELD — It was standing room only at the UMass Henry M. Thomas Center at Tower Square in Springfield as city residents, those from neighboring Longmeadow and other communities listened to Eversource representatives present their plans to build a natural gas pipeline.
WEST SPRINGFIELD — The paws will hit the pavement to support cancer survivors on Aug. 22 as the nonprofit Each Moment We’re Alive hosts its sixth annual Canines Against Cancer at the Morgan Road Pavilion in West Springfield.
LONGMEADOW — Longmeadow native Jonah Barresi left Western Massachusetts to pursue his passion for filmmaking and social activism. Partnering with other writers and activists, Barresi is set to turn a screenplay about class, identity and the power of community into a short film. However, just as the characters in the movie must tackle obstacles to realize their dreams, Barresi and his collaborators need to overcome a funding hurdle to turn their screenplay into a fully realized musical film.
HAMPDEN — The gazebo on the lawn in front of the former Thornton W. Burgess School may seem like a small amenity in Hampden, but it has gotten a new life thanks to the Parks & Recreation Department and some volunteers.
