Route 20 project moving to public hearing phase

LONGMEADOW — Play is essential for children to grow and learn. At Blueberry Hill School, all children are now able to play in a safe and inclusive environment.
LONGMEADOW — At a joint meeting of the Select Board and School Committee, Estelle Jordan was chosen to fill an empty seat on the committee. The vacancy opened after former School Committee member Mary Keene won reelection in June but was unable to fulfill the role due to health issues. Jordan will serve in the seat until the townwide elections in June 2025.
LONGMEADOW — The Select Board voted on Sept. 3 to implement the Municipal Fiber Task Force’s recommendation and see if the fall Town Meeting will vote to move forward with a townwide fiber optic internet network through Fiberspring, the fiber optic internet component of South Hadley Electric Light Department.
EAST LONGMEADOW — The East Longmeadow Planning Board discussed the recent state initiative to allow accessory dwelling units by right under the approved Affordable Homes Act and the town’s next steps to approach the changes from the legislation at its Sept. 17 meeting.
HAMPEN — During the Sept. 19 Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School Committee meeting, Superintendent John Provost provided an update on the district’s coordination with the Hampden Board of Selectmen to return Thornton W. Burgess School to town ownership.
