CHESTER — The town of Chester has announced a special town meeting on Monday, Jan. 6. to ask voters to authorize several town expenditures. Registered town voters are asked to meet in the Town Hall Auditorium, 15 Middlefield Rd. at 7 p.m.
SOUTHWICK — With the Special Town Meeting called for Tuesday, Jan. 14, the warrant has come into focus and will include two articles from the Community Preservation Committee for funding projects, one about a citizens’ petition, and another for a vote on a funds transfer to pay Fire Department salaries.
WESTFIELD — Before City Councilors voted unanimously in support of a resolution sponsored by councilors Dan Allie, Kristen Mello and Nicholas Morganelli opposing a lithium battery energy storage facility (BESS) on Medeiros Way in the city’s Water Resource Protection District, several officials from Jupiter Power and the Department of Public Utilities and others spoke during public participation at the meeting on Dec. 19.
WESTFIELD — By the slimmest of margins, the City Council voted 7-6 on Dec. 19 to approve the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the city of Northampton and the city of Westfield to become part of the ValleyBike integrated bike share system.
