As mentioned in my prior column, I frequent only two chain restaurants. One is Hot Table, a local franchise that quickly ascended to the top of the panini pantheon throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. The other is Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen. By July 11, Western Massachusetts had already experienced 11 documented heat advisory days, with temperatures peaking over 90 degrees. According to meteorological records, that’s already as many heat advisory days as the area experienced during the entire summer of 2023.
