SOUTHWICK — Conservation Commission Chair Norm Cheever announced at its meeting on May 18 that four alternatives have been developed to mitigate flooding events at Congamond Lakes, and he said the costs range from $3 million to $222 million.
SOUTHWICK — Of the town’s 7,969 registered voters, 142 attended Town Meeting on May 19, and of those, 126 cast votes on an article to levy a meals tax, which had the potential to generate over $140,000 annually.
SOUTHWICK — For 117 days, a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that was driven on the ice of the Middle Pond in late January, crashed through and submerged in over 25 feet of water, was recovered on May 18 by members of the Western Massachusetts Regional Dive Team.
WESTFIELD — On May 7, the City Council approved an appropriation of $112,500 to settle a lawsuit brought by 17 Westfield Police Department officers against the city.
WESTFIELD — The unique compensation package for the members of the city’s Municipal Light Board will remain as is after the board was told by Westfield Gas & Electric’s legal counsel that it needed “no further discussion.”
