RUSSELL — The town of Russell will be hosting an evening of holiday cheer on Saturday, Dec. 13, featuring a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and the 25th Annual Russell Parade of Lights.

The Claus family will arrive at Town Hall in the Russell-Montgomery Police Department Blue Light parade at 4:30 p.m., where hot chocolate and popcorn will be served outside until 5:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, participants in the annual Russell Parade of Lights will line up at 5:30 p.m. at the Russell Fire Station at the end of Main Street for the parade, which will proceed down Main Street, turn left onto Route 20, left onto Old Westfield Road and back to Main Street. No parking is permitted along the parade route.

Missy Castro of the Russell Parks & Recreation said that anyone can participate in the parade as long as they have something decorated.

“We have two categories for the trophies: first responders and civilians. They can bring any road legal vehicle, bike, quad etc., as long as it’s decorated,” Castro said, adding that since it’s a family event, no political messages are permitted. People wishing to participate in the parade may text or call Castro at 413-454-5678 before Dec. 13.
