EAST LONGMEADOW — When people think of A.W. Brown’s Pet & Garden, they may picture buying dog food and flowers, but on Saturday, Sept. 20, families can stop by for the store’s third annual fall festival.

The fall festival began in 2023 as a celebration of former President Tom Wheeler’s retirement.

Since then, President Michael Burnham said, “It’s just … a good way to bring the community together.”

About 200 people came to last year’s event, hosted at the A.W. Brown’s property at 144 Shaker Rd. This year, the festival will feature nearly 20 vendors, from pet businesses like The Reptile Nook and Kind Methods Dog Training, to agricultural ones, including Ginger Roots Farm to Bakery Co. and Wild Roots Farm. Art, woodworking and candles are among the items available from craft vendors. There will also be food trucks, giveaways and activities.

“It’s a great use of our space to bring in the community and more people to our store,” said Marketing Director Cassidy O’Hara. Burnham added, “A.W. Brown’s has been here as long as it has because of its commitment to our community. We want to celebrate the longevity of what we’ve built here.”

A.W. Brown’s Pet & Garden is an employee-owned small business that has been operating in East Longmeadow for 80 years. The business commonly hosts events, including a beekeeping workshop earlier this month, a blessing of the animals on Oct. 4 and a Halloween pet costume contest on Nov. 1.

The Fall Festival will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on A.W. Brown’s, visit awbrown.com.
