Northampton, Easthampton and Westhampton are partnering with the Sponsors of Mass Save to bring energy-saving opportunities to all residents through the Community First Partnership.
The partnership collaborates locally with Berkshire Gas, Eversource and National Grid to provide energy-efficient solutions to residents, small businesses and local nonprofits in an effort to reduce energy use and increase the comfort of homes and buildings.
As part of this effort, the three municipalities will now share a regional Energy Advocate who provides personalized, one-on-one support to help residents take advantage of available energy efficiency programs.
A spokesperson for the Sponsors of Mass Save told Reminder Publishing the Community First Partnership is designed to provide tailored energy solutions to local communities across the Baystate, connecting them with Mass Save programs that address their unique needs.
“Through the initiative, the Sponsors of Mass Save are able to reach renters, language-isolated households and other historically underserved populations,” said the spokesperson. “By working with people who are embedded into each community, the Sponsors ensure that energy-saving resources are accessible and relatable. It’s about meeting people where they are with information, support and solutions that lead to long-term energy savings and a more equitable energy future.”
The spokesperson added a program like the Community First Partnership helps break down barriers to access of these efficiency programs that can benefit so many.
“We believe the messenger matters as much as the message. Being able to work with a local energy advocate who lives and works in your community helps break down barriers that may exist in accessing Mass Save programs — like trust, language access or program knowledge,” said the spokesperson. “For Hampshire County, this partnership will allow Northampton, Easthampton and Westhampton to reach more residents and small businesses with meaningful, tailored energy solutions. The goal is to reduce energy burdens and increase comfort, all while contributing to the state’s climate and energy goals.”
To learn more about what opportunities are available, reach out to schedule a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, explore rebates and incentives, or to find out if you qualify for income-eligible upgrades. “At the center of the Community First Partnership is the idea that equitable energy access should be local, relatable and action driven,” said the spokesperson. “The Sponsors of Mass Save are working to support these communities in their efforts to lead on clean energy and bring real cost savings to their residents through continued innovation, collaboration and lasting community-building that comes from these partnerships.”
