City Councilor Rosemary Sandlin was reelected to the council’s president position during the council’s Jan. 6 organizational meeting.

AGAWAM — The Agawam City Council unanimously reelected City Councilor Rosemary Sandlin as the council’s president and City Councilor Anthony Russo as the council’s vice president.
The votes, which were done swiftly, occurred during the council’s organizational meeting on Jan. 6.
“I like to thank all my colleagues for reelecting me,” Russo said during the meeting. “this past year, we did a lot of great things for Agawam with this body along with the mayor…I look forward to the upcoming year and continuing the growth of our great community.”
Sandlin did not comment on her reelection during the meeting and did not respond to a request for comment as of press time.
She and Russo were the president and vice president respectively during the 2024 calendar year.
During the meeting, the council also reelected Barbara Bard as the council’s administrative assistant and Cherly St. John as the auditor.
Almost all of the councilors used the end of the meeting to congratulate those elected to these positions.
