WEST SPRINGFIELD — The Big E is officially in full swing until Oct. 4 and West Springfield received the kickoff celebration in the fair’s “salute to” series on Sept. 21.
The series recognizes and honors local Western Massachusetts communities with special themed days throughout the fair’s run. Holyoke, Springfield, Chicopee, Agawam and Westfield all have dedicated days.
The West Springfield School Committee led the charge when the parade stepped off, followed by cars of students. The Town Council followed close behind and Mayor William Reichelt stood solo in a red Jeep.
The West Springfield High School Marching Band, West Springfield Middle School Band and the high school’s boy’s soccer team, toting a 2025 state champions banner, were also featured in the parade.
