EAST LONGMEADOW — It was a three-way race for two open spots in the East Longmeadow Town Council, and the unofficial results from the June 2 election show a victory by only 15 votes.
Out of the 14,146 registered voters in town, the election saw a turnout of 8.9% with 1,266 actual voters.
Councilor Jonathan Torcia sought reelection to a three-year term, achieving that goal with a majority vote of 713. Former Councilor Matthew Boucher and Carolyn Ferros also had their names in the running, with Boucher narrowly securing the seat with 673 votes over Ferros’ 658.
There were two different bids for School Committee, one for a three-year term and one for a one-year term. There were two seats open for three-year terms, with School Committee members Kerri Jarzabski and William Strother winning reelection.
Former School Committee member Sarah Truoiolo was the sole name on the ballot for a one-year term, but was contested by known write-in candidate Christina Cooper. Truoiolo walks away victorious with 645 votes over 357 write-in votes.
The one ballot question regarding a charter amendment in the Town Council section received 685 yes votes and 468 no votes.
