SOMERS — Life is about commemorating milestones and cherishing those moments — whether it is a birthday, graduation, wedding or whatever the occasion. The good news is that there is a new home cottage business named Ajalicia’s Sweets that will help sweeten your special moments.

Ajalicia’s Sweets makes custom cakes and cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, coconut macaroons, pies, rice crispy treats, chocolate treats, everything bakery.

Owners Jason and Stefanie Caetano sell handcrafted desserts out of their home and deliver them to venues for different events. “I would love for people to experience Ajalicia’s Sweets and for it to spread around that we are a small family run business,” said Stefanie Caetano. “I want everybody to see how much we love what we do. When they are thinking of having a special moment or big event, they can trust and count on Ajalicia’s Sweets. We have passion and put our best foot forward, but mainly this small business of ours is being led by God.”

Stefanie Caetano loves to bake and has been baking for over eight years. She is self-taught and would bake for their four children for fun. Stefanie Caetano explained, “We never took it seriously, but then our kids started getting older, so I began baking for family and friends. Then people were inquiring about it, and we slowly started selling.”

She went on to say, “We named it Ajalicia’s Sweets because we only have one daughter, and her name is Ajalicia. My husband and I came up with that name together, so we found it fitting that we name our small business that. I do the baking and Jason runs the show. However, all four of our kids help with Ajalicia’s Sweets and that’s another reason why it’s so special to us.”

Their top seller is a dark chocolate cake that is made with Dutch cocoa and Colombian coffee. It also has chocolate pudding filling with mini chocolate chips. Another top seller is their custom sugar cookies and a white velvet fluffy vanilla cake with raspberry filling in the middle and soft butter cream on top.

“My favorite is the chocolate crinkle cookie,” said Windsor Locks resident Naomi Urquhart who has been friends with Stefanie Caetano for nine years. “It’s amazing and she also does it in red velvet. Her chocolate crinkle cookies and all her cookies are big, moist and full of flavor. Her cupcakes are amazing too. The frosting compliments the cupcake, and all her cupcakes have a filling. Her cakes are beautiful and tasty. She does everything from a basic buttercream single tier cake to a three-year fondant covered wedding cake with assorted flavors and layers.”

She continued, “You can feel the love in Stefanie’s food. Her family is her everything. They support her and she really has a passion for baking. She’s bringing to the community not just good tasting food, but you can just feel that love in her food.”

Right now, the Caetanos are having a blast. Stefanie Caetano said, “The biggest reward is seeing the customers’ smiles and knowing that my cakes will be in their memories. We thank God that he has blessed us with great support for Ajalicia’s Sweets from our family and friends Awilda Galarza, Jody Caetano and our good friends Evelina Skalski.” She continued, “I feel God has sparked this in me and I want to see where it goes. We pray that God continues to bless us so that we can sweeten your special moments.”
