BELCHERTOWN — Second Chance Animal Services is having its 12th Annual Golf Tournament at the Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown on Monday, July 15.
Attendees can look forward to an action-packed day, including a box lunch, banquet dinner, a bucket of range balls, and a commemorative gift. Proc eeds from the event will directly support Second Chance’s Community Veterinary Hospitals in Springfield, Worcester, Southbridge, and North Brookfield, which provide vital veterinary services to pets in underserved communities.
Founded in 1999, Second Chance Animal Services is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that has helped over 49,000 pets live better lives through full-service veterinary care, spay/neuter services, adoption services, community & educational outreach programs, training, and a pet food pantry.
Chief Development Officer Lindsay Doray said, “We do a number of fundraisers every year to support the work Second Chance does, so golf tournaments are a fun event that helps to raise money for the mission.”
She continued, “We started having a golf tournament twelve years ago and started at a nine-hole course, the popularity is what drew us to an 18-hole course so that we could accommodate more players. It’s all about raising money for the animals and the programs and services that we offer so that we can continue to help pets in need in the community.”
This year’s tournament will have Tito’s Handmade Vodka as a new addition, offering tastings on the course. The tournament will feature various challenges, including prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, closest to the line, a yellow ball contest, and more. Attendees will also have the chance to win $4,000 toward a pool or spa from Teddy Bear Pools in the hole-in-one contest. There will also be raffles and a silent auction launched online.
“It’s important to do these fundraisers because we want people to support our mission,” Doray said. “It’s knowing that we’re keeping those bonds with pets and their people intact. It’s knowing that we are making a difference and rewarding to see pets stay in their home.”
Second Chance is still welcoming sponsors and accepting donations for the tournament’s silent auction and raffle. Information regarding sponsorships and item donations can be found at secondchanceanimals.org/events/golf.
The 18-hole tournament will be in a scramble format with foursomes. Check-in will start at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The complete information, registration and a link to the auction can be found at secondchanceanimals.org/events/golf.
