AGAWAM — Only one party’s ballot has a contested race locally, but polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. across Massachusetts for the state primary election on Tuesday, Sept. 3, including at the usual voting locations in Agawam and Feeding Hills.

Additionally, the town is offering in-person early voting at a central location on Aug. 24 and Aug. 26-30. Early voting for Agawam and Feeding Hills residents is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. that Monday through Friday, at the Senior Center, 954 Main St., Agawam.

Primary election polling places on Sept. 3 are Sapelli School (formerly Robinson Park School; Precinct 1), 65 Begley St., Agawam; Granger School (Precinct 2), 31 S. Westfield St., Feeding Hills; Agawam High School (Precinct 3), 760 Cooper St., Agawam; Doering School (Precinct 4), 68 Main St., Agawam; Phelps School (Precinct 5), 689 Main St., Agawam; Clark School (precincts 6 and 8), 65 Oxford St., Agawam; and Agawam Junior High School (Precinct 7), 1305 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. Voters can look up their address to find their assigned precinct at www.sec.state.ma.us/WhereDoIVoteMA.

Each voter can cast only one ballot. Registered members of the Democratic, Libertarian or Republican parties can vote in their party’s primary election only. Voters who are registered but unenrolled in a party — also called “independent” — can choose any one of the three party ballots.

Republican ballots are the only ones presenting a decision for voters to make. The GOP has three candidates for U.S. Senator, Robert J. Antonellis of Medford, Ian Cain of Quincy and John Deaton of Swansea. The only other candidate on any local Republican ballots is state Rep. Nicholas Boldyga (R-Southwick), who is running uncontested for reelection in a district that includes precincts 2-8 of Agawam. There is no Republican state representative candidate in the district that includes West Springfield and Precinct 1 of Agawam.

Democratic ballots feature no contested races. Incumbent U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) is the only person seeking nomination for that six-year seat; she will face the Republican nominee in November. Others seeking the nomination for their current seats include U.S. Rep. Richard Neal (D-Springfield), Governor’s Councilor Tara Jacobs (D-North Adams), state Sen. John Velis (D-Westfield), Clerk of Courts Laura Gentile (D-East Longmeadow) and Register of Deeds Cheryl Coakley-Rivera (D-Springfield). In Precinct 1 of Agawam, state Rep. Michael Finn (D-West Springfield) is running for re-election unopposed. There is no Democratic candidate for state representative in precincts 2-8 of Agawam.

There are no candidates for any of these offices on the Libertarian Party ballots in Agawam.
