CHICOPEE — Members of the Chicopee Fire and Police departments, as well as the community, gathered at the Public Safety Complex to honor and remember the lives lost during the devastating terrorist attacks that took place on 9/11.
“We will never forget those who lost their lives, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day,” the Chicopee Fire Department said in a statement on their Facebook page.
The Chicopee Police Department posted a statement that read, “Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the lives forever changed by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. We honor the nearly 3,000 innocent people who lost their lives, including the brave police officers, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to help others. We remember their courage. We remember their sacrifice. We remember the families and communities who continue to carry their loss. Today, and every day, we will never forget.”
