HAMPDEN — Town Administrator Brian Domina presented the Selectboard with a lengthy list of upgrades and fixes needed at the new town hall, 85 Wilbraham Road, before the town offices can move into the building.
LONGMEADOW — Longmeadow Fire Chief John Rigney delivered what he called the Fire Department’s “state of the union” at the Sept. 15 Select Board meeting.
RUSSELL — Elizabeth Hanechak, 18, of Russell has been awarded a $100,000 scholarship for her project, “Solving the Plastic Problem: Developing a Microbial System for the Bioremediation of Plastic Waste into Drinkable Water and Fertilizer Material.”
SPRINGFIELD — A massive fire that occurred at Chet’s Auto Wrecking and Scrap Yard was possibly caused by a lithium-ion battery, but that has not been confirmed.
WEST SPRINGFIELD — The Big E celebrated West Springfield Day last week on Sept. 15. The centerpiece of the festivities was a parade highlighting a snapshot of the town.
NORTHAMPTON — The city’s Sept. 16 preliminary election has narrowed down the candidates in multiple races, most notably in the mayoral race, where incumbent Gina-Louise Sciarra will face off against challenger Jillian Duclos on the November ballot.
