WEST SPRINGFIELD — Family. Responsibility. Regret. While these themes are on display in the latest stage production in the Majestic Theater’s 2024-2025 season, “Fences,” at its core, August Wilson’s 1985 play is a story about generational trauma, the lifelong impacts of segregation and racism, and the constant war between the experiences of the past and hope for the future.
My girlfriend and I recently embarked on an epic quest — a binge-watching voyage through the schmaltzy romantic comedy world. Many may jeer at the thought of rom-coms; they are labeled as disposable, artificial and contrived by countless detractors.

An irresistible restaurant is not only defined by its food. Sure, a tasty bite to eat is an essential component, yet it is often the arresting atmosphere and authentic sense of place that keeps patrons coming back for more.
With a couple of high-profile video game turned movie and movie turned video game releases in December, I wanted to review both. As has become clear from my previous columns, one of my biggest hobbies is gaming, so I could not pass up the opportunity to talk about two of my favorite pieces of media this year, the movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and the video game “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.”
