WESTFIELD – Editha (“Edith”) T. Angco, 90, (1935-2025) of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born in the Philippines to the late Judge Mamerto Talamayan and Erlinda (Aenlle) Talamayan.

A devout Catholic, and a woman of deep faith, she was a living example of generosity, kindness, and patience; her love was devoted to God, her family, and teaching. Edith attended the University of Santo Thomas, Philippines and graduated with degrees in Education and Mathematics. She taught advanced mathematics at The University of the Philippines and was the first of her family to emigrate to the United States. Edith’s first teaching position was in Malden, MA; she went on to have a profound impact on countless students, as a seventh and eighth grade advanced and remedial math teacher in the Westfield Public School system for over forty years, and even after retirement she continued to substitute teach, which truly was a reflection of her joy and passion for teaching.

Edith was a loving wife; predeceased by her devoted husband, Dr. Cesar M. Angco of 54 years.  She was the matriarch of her family, a selfless mother to two daughters, Kathleen Angco-Vieweg (Jason Vieweg) and Arlene Cabral (Dan Cabral), a loving grandmother to Calaeb Vieweg and Kayla Cabral.  She was a beloved sister, predeceased by Jose Talamayan, Edmundo Talamayan, Erlinda Perez, Dr. Oliver Talamayan, Judge Ernesto Talamayan, Juliana Zipagan, Milagros Talamayan, Colonel Rodolfo Talamayan, Manolo Talamayan, Henry Talamayan, and survived by Luz Francisco and Archbishop Diosdado Talamayan, and a trusted advisor and confidante to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Firtion-Adams, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Parish, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Parish and St. Mary’s High School, Westfield. A private burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
