EAST LONGMEADOW — If you’re looking for a fun-filled event to go to this weekend, the First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow at 7 Somers Rd. is having its third annual Food Trucks on the Rotary, Sept. 6, from 3-7 p.m., rain or shine.

Event coordinator Christina Gebo said they’re expecting between 300 and 400 people.

They’ll have four food trucks: Heavenly Dogs and Catering, Mass Ice Cream, Puerto Rican food from El Sabor De Mami and Dulce Ambicion by Maria’s Cake’s with pastries & cakes. Plus, live entertainment from Borrowed Time, Paired Down and more.

Food Trucks on the Rotary is a fundraiser event to benefit the East Longmeadow Food Pantry and Kensington School Food Pantry, so attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the event or donate online.

“The event has been well attended,” said Gebo. “We’ve had a variety of food trucks the past few years and a lot of donations to the two local pantries, Kensington School and East Food Pantry. This year, we want to bring the community together to a big community event and have a good time while helping donate to local organizations.”

The First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow was founded in 1828 and is the oldest church building in town. The reason they started the Food Trucks on the Rotary three years ago is because they wanted to extend their outreach and connect more with the community. The church decided to have food trucks to help feed people and bring everyone together. For those attending the event for the first time this year, Gebo described it as a welcoming environment. They have games, arts & crafts stations for children, music and plenty of food.

“There’s always people in the community that could use help with these funds,” Gebo said. “This is a fun event for the year to bring everyone together. I just love making others happy in the community and know you’re putting work in to make East Longmeadow and surrounding communities a better place.”
