WESTFIELD — Organizer Patty Wright is seeking participants for a citywide tag sale weekend on May 17 and 18.
All addresses in the 01085 zip code are invited to participate in any way they’d like — tag sale, bake sale, craft show, flea market or lemonade stand.
Wright said in the past, citywide tag sales in Westfield have had more than 95 participants and attracted shoppers from around the Western Massachusetts community. In the spirit of building community, businesses and organizations are also invited to hold sidewalk sales, etc. to advertise their organizations.
City bylaws require each tag sale to obtain a permit from the city clerk’s office.
According to City Clerk Kaitlyn Bruce, Westfield residents may have two tag sales per year per city ordinance.
Permits must be obtained through the city clerk’s office in Room 210, City Hall, on 59 Court St., in person, or online using the city clerk’s online payment center and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Permits cost $10 and are good for up to three consecutive days.
Permits must be posted during the tag sale. Any signs for advertisement must be free standing — not on the trees or poles — and must be taken down within 24 hours of the last day of the tag sale. Anyone with questions, may contact the city clerk’s office at 413-572-6258.
The list of tag sales will be available on the Facebook page, the Yardsale Treasure Map phone app, as well as on the Google Map at tinyurl.com/5dyd3nwh.
Wright said thanks to the assistance of the city clerk’s office, purchasing a permit for your tag sale will automatically add you to the list of sales and the maps.
The map will be updated on the evening of May 16.
