With the 2024 general election officially in the books, Reminder Publishing gathered the results for how Northampton and Easthampton voted regarding the presidential race and the five major state ballot questions.
Easthampton
According to unofficial results posted by Easthampton’s city clerk office, Vice President Kamala Harris beat out President-elect Donald Trump with a vote tally of 7,084 to 2,530, while U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren defeated challenger John Deaton 7,100 to 2,784.
Warren will serve a third six-year term in the U.S. Senate.
As for the ballot questions, Easthampton voters voted yes for Questions 1 through 4 and no on Question 5. These results reflected what the broader state voted for with the exception of Question 4, which asked Massachusetts residents if the state should legalize certain psychedelic substances for people over 21.
While that question was shot down by Massachusetts voters, a slight majority of Easthampton residents showed support, with 4,991 voters voting yes and 4,755 voting no.
In the First District Congress race, Congressman Richard Neal defeated challenger Nadia Donya Milleron.
A total of 10,087 ballots were casted in Easthampton in this year’s election.
Northampton
Harris also dominated Trump in Northampton, as well, securing almost 14,000 votes to Trump’s 1,770, according to unofficial results as of press time.
In the senator race, Warren prevailed with 14,410 votes to Deaton’s 2,120, and in the 2nd Congressional District race, incumbent U.S. Rep. James McGovern beat Cornelius Shea with a final tally of 14,180 to 1,687.
Similar to Easthampton, Northampton voters expressed support for Questions 1-4 but not for 5.
